Forum

Connect with other learners: browse per-language categories, start topics or reply to discussions, and attach decks for context.

Overview

The forum is organized into categories: one for each language plus a few general categories. You can browse topics, start discussions, reply to other posts, attach decks for context, and like helpful topics and replies. Pinned topics highlight important posts and locked topics are closed to new replies.

Getting There

Click Forum in the sidebar under the Social section. This opens the forum home page.

Forum Home

The forum home page gives you an overview of everything happening across the forum. At the top, you'll find a grid of all categories with their topic counts (click any category to browse its topics). Below that is a list of recent topics, showing the most recently active discussions across every category. Pinned topics stay at the top for visibility, and a stats section shows the total number of topics, posts, and active contributors.

Categories

The forum has three kinds of categories:

  • General categories for platform-wide discussion: Announcements, General Discussion, and Requests & Feedback.
  • Language categories, one for each supported language, displayed with the language's flag. These are for language-specific questions, resources, and discussions.
  • Other Languages, a catch-all for discussing languages that don't have a dedicated category.

Browsing Topics

Category View

Click a category to see all topics inside it. Topics can be sorted by recent activity (the default, which shows the most recently replied to topics first), newest (most recently created), most views, or most replies.

A search field lets you filter topics by keyword, and results are paginated.

All Topics

Click "View all" next to the Recent Topics section on the forum home to see topics across every category at once. The same sorting and search options are available, plus a category filter dropdown if you want to narrow by category.

Reading a Topic

Click a topic to open it. The topic page shows the original post followed by all replies in chronological order.

Each topic displays the title and content of the original post, the author's username and profile photo, the category it belongs to, the view and reply counts (repeat views by the same user within 10 minutes don't double-count), any attached deck (linked inline if the author included one), and pin or lock badges where applicable.

A Related topics section in the sidebar shows other topics in the same category.

Replies

Replies appear below the original post. Each one shows the author, content, time posted, and like count.

Nested replies are supported. You can reply directly to a specific post, and the parent post is referenced in your reply.

If a topic is locked, new replies are blocked. A notice appears at the bottom explaining that the topic is closed.

Creating a Topic

Click "New Topic" to open the topic creation form. You'll need to pick a category, write a descriptive title, and fill out the body of your post. You can also optionally attach one of your decks to provide context for the discussion.

Posting topics in the Announcements category is restricted to admins, but all users can reply to topics in this category.

Content is checked by an automated moderation system before posting. If something is flagged, the post may be rejected.

Interacting with Posts

Liking

Click the heart icon on any topic or reply to like it, and click again to unlike. Liked items show a red filled heart. Like counts are visible on each post.

Editing

You can edit your own topics and replies after posting. An "edited" indicator shows up on modified posts so it's clear they were changed.

Deleting

You can delete your own topics and replies. Deleting a topic removes all of its replies along with it.

Reporting

If you see content that violates community guidelines, click the "Report" button on the topic or reply. You'll be asked to pick a reason (spam, harassment, inappropriate content, off-topic, or other) and you can optionally add a description. Reports are reviewed by moderators.

Pinned and Locked Topics

Pinned topics are marked with a pin badge and appear at the top of their category and on the forum home page. Only moderators and admins can pin or unpin topics.

Locked topics are marked with a lock badge and don't accept new replies. Only moderators and admins can lock or unlock topics.

Tips and Troubleshooting

Can't post in Announcements? The Announcements category is restricted to admins. Other users can read announcements but cannot create topics there.

Can't reply to a topic? The topic may be locked. Locked topics are marked with a lock badge and don't accept new replies.

Post was rejected? Content is checked by an automated moderation system before posting. If your post was rejected, review it for anything that might have been flagged and try rephrasing.

"Title or content too long." Topic titles are capped at 250 characters, and topic bodies and replies are each capped at 40,000 characters. Split longer writeups across multiple replies.
