About Dialect

A language learning platform built around spaced repetition, flexible flashcard decks, and AI-assisted conversation practice.

What Dialect Is

Dialect started as a personal project to combine the flexibility of Anki with a modern interface and built-in community features. The goal was a single platform where you could build your own flashcard decks, study with an adaptive spaced repetition algorithm, practice conversation with an AI tutor, and track everything in one place.

The platform uses FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) for card scheduling, supports 40 featured languages with AI tutor configurations and 180+ languages total, and includes four distinct study modes for different situations. Decks support custom fields, sections, bulk import, and per-deck study settings.

Beyond individual study, Dialect has a community library of public decks, study groups for coordinated learning, a forum for discussion, and leaderboards for tracking progress against other learners.

How Dialect Is Built

Flexible by Default

Decks support custom fields, sections, multiple test types, and per-deck study settings. The platform adapts to how you want to study, not the other way around.

Accurate Tracking

Progress data reflects actual retention. Activity calendars, per-language breakdowns, accuracy trends, and session history show exactly where things stand.

Shared Resources

Public decks, study groups, forum discussions, and leaderboards. Learning from and with other people is built into the platform.
